Submissions

Here at PIPPAblog, we are interested in hearing from our readers and giving them an opportunity to contribute to the conversation.

We are interested in any sort of essay or opinion piece that meets our PIPPA guidelines, especially novel takes on philosophy, discussions of politics and policy from the view of ideology (as opposed to say, chances of political success), and treatments of artistic works through the PIPP lens.

In addition, we will also publish original fiction, photo galleries, and other online art installations or projects, provided they meet the Art critera.  If you’re curious as to whether it is or is not art, send it in and convince us.  To paraphrase Justice Stewart, “we’ll know it when we see it.”

If you’d like to contribute, send an email to submissions@pippablog.com.  Please read the guidelines for submissions below.

Essay Submission Guidelines

We will only consider works submitted solely to PIPPAblog and not published elsewhere.

Your submission email should be titled Submission: and then followed by the area of the site you’d like to contribute to.  (Philosophy, Ideology, Politics, Policy, or Art).

Briefly describe the piece in the body of the email and give a brief author biography.

Pieces should be no longer than 3,000 words and should be attached to the submissions email in an MS Word document.  (If you feel your piece that is longer than 3,000 words should be considered, please explain that in the body of your email.)

If your piece is a reply to another piece published elsewhere, make sure you include a link to the original article early in the piece so readers can go read it as well.

Give us at least a week to get back to you before querying about your submission.  We will get to it, but right now “we” is being used in the royal sense, so understand you’re not dealing with a large staff.

Fiction Submission Guidelines

We will only consider works submitted solely to PIPPAblog and not published elsewhere, although we will accept excerpts from unpublished or upcoming novels.

Your submission email should be titled Submission: Fiction.

Briefly describe the piece in the body of the email and give a brief author biography.

Individual pieces should be no longer than 3,000 words.  (If you feel your single piece that is longer than 3,000 words should be considered, please explain that in the body of your email.)  Serial works or novel excerpts may be longer than 3,000 words, but please note the type of work attached in your email.

Photography and Other Art

We will consider works published or available elsewhere (such as your own blog site or Photoshelter) for publication at PIPPAblog, as long as publishing it here will not violate the terms of use or agreement at the original site.

Your submission email should be titled Submission: Other Art.

Give a detailed description of the work in your submission email and we will let you know whether it is something PIPPAblog is interested in.
